Bita (Proyecto de Biomedicina CIMA, S.L.) is a biotechnology firm whose purpose is to properly protect intellectual property rights generated by the Applied Medicine Investigation Center (CIMA) in Pamplona, and to exploit these through license agreements with other firms and companies from the biotechnology field.

Bita is the ownership body of all the results coming from the investigation work developed by CIMA.

The company was set up in June, 2003 and the offices are located in Pamplona (Navarra).

The Company already started off with some patents from the very moment of its inception, contributed by one of its founder-members (The University of Navarra). Since then, there has been a notable increase in the number of protected findings, as can be seen at our patent listing, thanks to the high level of efficiency and productivity at CIMA.

Bita has come into being as a consequence of a joint venture between The University of Navarra, owner of CIMA, and a group of 15 financial backers, among these some of the most important companies in Spain, as well as some of the most representative local entities from within the Province of Navarra such as The Regional Government of Navarra (through its arm for business development, SODENA), The University of Navarra, and the savings banks, Caja Navarra and Caja Rural de Navarra.

DIGNA  Biotech, a firm which also belongs to the CIMA-DIGNA Project, is a unit that acts as a preferential licensee of the patents from Bita.
